Novus Ordo Lemurati - Remastered
February 16, 2008 by Lemur King
Pajama momma and Steamboat were kind enough to suggest migrating to B&W. I kind of like it. Its tough taking something down to 25% and then resisting the urge to blow it up 4x when viewing it. Looks like the backside of the moon.
Click on the thumbnail to see the image in real-scale…
So all in all, thanks guys! I like it better in B&W, which isn’t an easy direction for me to take considering that in raytracing (a hobby of mine) you usually are shooting for color because the eye can detect the high dynamic range where in B&W you are limited to about 64 levels.
Much appreciated. Can I do something in return? Need a car washed?
Next project: GIMP an actual photo of a lemur for that old-photograph roaring 20’s look.

Um … I meant shrink it and LEAVE IT so we can see what it looks like shrunken. All of those look exactly the same size on my display.
Sorry Steamboat - they are all there, really.
Click on them and it will load the actual image. They are just posted as thumbnails so you can load the original post without waiting long times.
I just did it that way because I hate it when people load 30 1MB images onto a web-page and let you suffer the consequences if you are on a slow connection that day.

I edited the post with “click on the thumbnails” to avoid confusion.

I think the next step would be to make one of the eyes lazy. That would really add character don’t you think?
pjm - I’m probably going to sound like an ID10T, but can you define “lazy”?
Is that like Marty Feldman or is it something else entirely? If that’s what you mean, that might take me some time to figure out.
- LK
Like I said at my place……duh.
They look fine, LK! Matter of fact, it can probably shrink a lot more if you ever need to scale it. Its a very clean crisp design.
Lazy eye = eye that doesn’t look quite in the same direction as the other, or one which droops, i.e. the lid droops down like that eye is half asleep.
Hmmm. I think that would possibly make him look squinty-evil… think of Clint Eastwood when he’d get all twitchy. Might have one of those disturbing but not immediately evident touches, like the angle Brando held his head in the posters for Apocalypse Now. Oh gee you just made me think of a possible movie-poster spoof. The Good, the bad, and the ugly using (what else?)… lemurs! They’d lend themselves to it nicely, I think.

Lazy eye
Well, how about that. I have a touch of that myself. Might be easier to cut-n-paste my own face (eyes) in there. Of course, they aren’t lemur-colored… more of a tan color.
Really kind of funny because I don’t spend a lot of time looking at myself in the mirror and under normal conditions I can’t be photographed, so I never really was aware of it until about two years ago.
So, not-evil, not Clint Eastwood, more weird - like Brad Pitt in 13 Monkeys…
- LK
I can’t be photographed
What? Are you Amish?
Nope. Butt-ugly. Breaks the lens every time.
Children are absolutely adorable, thus reinforcing my argument that they are the spawn of Jake the Pool Boy.
Pisses me off since we don’t even have a pool.
- LK
Children have to be adorable so we do not kill them.
*doubts veracity of Lemur King’s ugly claim*
After this many rounds of “painting with poo” it is a very good thing that they are extra cute - your observation about cuteness and longevity is astute.
Ok, I’m not ugly. I’m a geek, and we don’t cast shadows or reflections. We also run from photographic devices out of superstition and fear.
Now I have made myself vulnerable and bared my secrets, I hope you are pleased with yourself.

Ok, I’m not ugly. I’m a geek, and we don’t cast shadows or reflections.
*breathes sigh of relief*
I was just worried you were gonna say you were a vampire.
Nah. Vampires suck.
Geeks are much much worse. We don’t take hints or criticism well and we batter people to death with useless trivia in 78% of the cases. Unless it is Tuesday, and a panel of scientists found that it shoots up to 93% when averaged across disciplines. Don’t know why.

And we never give you a sense of closure, either.
Just keep hammering at something until long past it’s natural life.
Really.
I’m such a geek.
Don’t feel ashamed. EMBRACE your geekness.
Like we have any choice…
