My Muse: The Riderless Black Horse of the Migraine
April 25, 2008 by Lemur King
Update Image… probably appropriate that I did some updating while enduring… a migraine! Wow! At least that is what the prevailing opinion seems to be… general neck pain and that evolves into bitchin’ migraines. Of course, my heart wasn’t in it, and I stopped well short of satisfaction. The plan is to have things go black and red behind him, show color to the bottom and left in front of him, but as you look closer and closer to him, things start to wash out and go grey, blending into the wave of black. It’s a work in progress still.

I don’t know if a muse aids art or just writing. Doesn’t matter. Inspiration wanders by so you grab it.

The “Before” Post
After several days of this bitch-kitty of a headache, I decided I was going to try to bring the visual to life. Below is my mental image (more or less) of the damned riderless black horse as it thuds it’s way to me at onset. Thud-thud, thud-thud, thud-THUD, THUD-THUD… damn thing’s eyes and hooves glow and it is most certainly, oh so certainly frothing as if it were rabid.
It’s not “right”, as it is a work-in-progress, but it conveys the idea, I guess. What I want is for the area around that fell beast to just grow dark for it having even been there. The horse should represent the antithesis of life.
(I think it’ll be a bigger pic if you click on it…)
I guess muse would work in a very roundabout way (might even fit the definition of irony). Stephen King gave me the notion, the concept, years ago when I was knee-high to a grasshopper. I was reading Firestarter which has to be one of his more endearing (if tragic) stories. Andy McGee ended up having these headaches after he “pushed” someone.
UPDATE: Friday Afternoon
From Fox News… How cultured and polite are the hecklers these days!
Bush Heckler Arrested After Punching Wheelchair-Bound Girl
Thursday , April 24, 2008
A man heckling First Lady Laura Bush and daughter Jenna outside the 92nd Street Y was arrested after he punched a wheelchair-bound girl whose parents had told him to shut up, authorities said Wednesday.
German Talis, 22, was shouting obscenities at the Bushes, who were leaving the building Tuesday, when he crossed paths with Wendy and John Lovetro and their daughter Maureen, 18, who has cerebral palsy.
They had been in the audience to hear the Bushes talk about their children’s book, “Read All About It.”
“He began yelling about Iraq and Iran at Jenna Bush. She was waving at the crowd. I told the guy, ‘What are you doing? Shut up. This is about a child and books,’ ” said John Lovetro. “He was unperturbed. I said, ‘Get out of here! You’re being a moron!’ “
The next thing he knew, Talis was allegedly punching Maureen, a fan of the first lady since meeting her in 2004.

I have a difficult enough time with libtards who kill for the “greater good,” but I go absolutely hermatile when I see somebody picking on somebody unable to defend themself.
Then we’re agreed. I’m not a fan hurting others on general principle, but I’ve always made exceptions when the person cannot defend themselves.
I’m going to go look up hermatile. Let’s see… living out way beyond others?… no… reptile lover?… no… fast?… no… Oh that root word is going to kill me.
Back in a second.
Ah-hah! Urban slang dictionary. Should have known.
I’d beg to differ, as I think there are very few things that would not warrant an over-the-top solution (where innocents are being harmed). Hermatile would be too judgmental of an honorable action.
Hey, you’re getting pretty good with that thing! I almost brought my tablet home to mess around with too, but I’ve got to much other stuff to do. The trebuchet showed up today so I’m putting that together this weekend.
Thanks Enas! Can’t wait to try your tree. Just got done posting a open-debate kind of post, for anyone that wishes to throw forth thoughts on the nature of inertia as an entity.
Next I’ll update the puncture chronicles…
Oh, you absolute dog. That trebuchet looks like a hoot. I really can’t wait to get the hang of some of the other modes of operation - oil paints, pastels, etc. They aren’t as intuitive as the airbrush and pencil modes. I’ve done pastels on paper but in the program is different by far.
