This showcases one of my biggest complaints with Christians (and I consider myself one). It is a reason why I don’t go to church because it seems like everywhere you go, you run into people who are more concerned about your sin than theirs. (the whole “My Way News” article is here) Emphasis mine…
The strippers, fueled by Cheetos and nicotine, are protesting a fundamentalist Christian church whose Bible-brandishing congregants have picketed the club where they work. The dancers roll up with signs carrying messages adapted from Scripture, such as “Do unto others as you would have done unto you,” to counter church members who for four years have photographed license plates of patrons and asked them if their mothers and wives know their whereabouts.
See, the church started this mess.
The pastor? He’s most concerned with motes in other’s eyes.
“As a Christian community, we cannot share territory with the devil,” Dunfee said. “Light and darkness cannot exist together, so The Fox Hole has got to go.”
One stripper rightly calls the church’s member’s behavior hateful. A congregant’s reply goes like this:
Debi Durr, who attends the church, disagreed. “You don’t stand up there for four years for hate. That’s not hate. That’s love,” she said. Durr left Meske with a copy of Jeremiah 3:13 – a Bible passage that urges sinners to acknowledge their guilt.
Yes, yes you do stand up there for four years for hate- if you seek to coerce or embarrass people in order to get your “message of love” across, you are tarnished silver.
I like that the strippers have showed up in bikinis. It makes a point.

I agree with your feelings about christians. When did everybody decide to start playing God? I don’t think God is half as judgmental as people make him sound. Everybody has sinned before, and think we should leave it at that.
Even if God IS as judgmental as all that, it’s not our place to be doing the judging like they are. To get where they’ve gotten, they’ve already missed the boat.
Even if God ISN’T as judgmental as all that, a lot of what is in the bible just makes good sense for a life with less issues and heartache.
That’s a good point. The bible is a guideline for morality. The only problem is some people use it as a weapon to hurt others, when it should be used as a tool to help them.
It always starts with good intentions. But there is a difference between sharing the gospel and shoving it down someone’s throat.
What the hell? No pictures of bikini-clad strippers with the article? NEWS FAIL.

I agree, as a Catholic and as a conservative. This church is not only trespassing on laws of men, they are trespassing on laws of God. That whole “let he who has not sinned cast the first stone” is being ignored completely, in favor of “I’m holier than thou, cuz I gots me clothing”. Seriously, that’s just effed up.
On the bright side, it’s Open Thread Friday at H&B

As a non-believer I have to agree with Mitchell.
And that’s a neat link, too, Mitch!
IMHO – the church folk are out of line – as is often the case with religions of all persuasions. Their noses are where they don’t belong.
Don’t like strip joints? Don’t go.
Don’t like people going to strip joints? Mind your own business.
Don’t like the existence of strip joints? Well I don’t like the existence of crucifixes – so let me know what you’re going to do about the strip joints and I’ll do exactly the same thing about crucifixes.
It.
Cuts.
Both.
Ways.
Ok, I actually went over there and read the article even though it was sans bikini-clad stripper pictures. I have to take a bit of an issue with you for calling this “hate”. Eh, they stage protests, but come on, is this really “hate”? That’s a really strong word and it’s been so abused lately. It’s not like anyone has firebombed the place or attacked the owners. That kind of behavior is more deserving of the term “hate”. This is more unusually vocal disapproval to me. And I think it ties more into small-town power plays rather than typical Christian church behavior. That’s my 2¢.
If we’re going to get all semantical… which I’m far too pooped for, so we won’t…
Hate is perhaps strong for the context. It sure ain’t love, though. It’s too judgmental for that.
You’d be surprised tho, Mitchell – I was exposed to some truly hateful vitriol spewed forth by a fellow congregation member towards gays and I remember being more than a bit appalled as me and my family drove away.
Overall, I guess I can agree with your assertion but there are most definitely some who get off on this stuff beyond just the small town power plays.
You are 100% right – why the hell no scantily clad bikini pics? There were pics posted for the lingerie coffee shops in Seattle.
Hi Lemur King!
I’m Christian too, but I don’t go to “church” in a physical building because I’m so sick of the lying, hypocritical twats, from the priests on down, that inhabited the hell hole I was stuck at. They TOTALLY ruined it for me. I like to watch TBN and read the Bible.
That church should not have picked on the stripper, because they probably have lots of dirt on who frequents their establishment.
Have a fun weekend.
BINGO!!! Give that lady a
cigara KITTEH!!!
