I love it when someone in a position to be heard and listened to (think Huckabee and his assistance to McCain) speaks up and just fans the flames and pours a little kerosene on the situation. In this case it is the IAEA chief.

The main players already KNOW that. But maybe it is helpful to go around validating a madman’s threats and bluster.

I guess it really helps put things in perspective and let cooler heads prevail

Too late.

Mainly because there’s no proof against Iran, right? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080620/ap_on_re_eu/russia_iran

Hey, and the gang’s all here, too. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080620/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/us_israel_iran

Brave and really risky… Of course we all think we’re bulletproof at that age, until something really harshes all your mellows (like a mill accident, for example).

Gas station clerk jumps into car to stop theft

SPRING LAKE, Mich. (AP) — A gas station cashier in western Michigan says she thought she’d be able to stop a fuel thief by jumping in his car. Nope, he just kept driving.

Twenty-one-year-old Jessica Sudy says she had already seen the same motorist leave the Spring Lake gas station twice without paying. On Wednesday she says she wrote down his license plate number, but then the man grabbed the paper from her and fled with more than $30 worth of gas.

The 4-foot-9 cashier says thefts cut into her monthly bonus. So she hopped inside the car as the man drove off. She got out a block away.

Police are seeking charges against a 22-year-old suspect tracked down through vehicle registration. And Sudy has gotten lectures from police, her manager and her mother.

Virginia man sheds 80 pounds eating at McDonald’s

QUINTON, Va. (AP) — A Virginia man lost about 80 pounds in six months by eating nearly every meal at McDonald’s. Not Big Macs, french fries and chocolate shakes. Mostly salads, wraps and apple dippers without the caramel sauce.

Chris Coleson tipped the scales at 278 pounds in December. The 5-foot-8 Coleson now weighs 199 pounds and his waist size has dropped from 50 to 36.

The 42-year-old businessman from Quinton says he chose McDonald’s because it’s convenient.

His inspiration came from his two children and from the story of a blind war veteran who rode a tandem bicycle cross-country.

Coleson says his goal is to get back to the 185 pounds he weighed when he married Tricia Summer. Their 10th anniversary is Saturday.

If you have the willpower to eat every meal there, and the money to do so… why don’t you have the willpower and money to get real food? It’s not about willpower vs. portion control. Nobody kept him from going back for seconds and thirds but himself.

I don’t know that we’re doing ourselves any favors with the “convenience” argument.

Oh yeah… and how do you get from Point A: Blind war veteran riding a bicycle cross-country, to Point B: Eat at McD’s for 7 months?

Another case of an Atheist getting worked up about something he doesn’t believe in. Never mind that the world’s largest Christmas store is there. It’s huge. It’s like the Cabelas of the nativity scene.

“People who like to cite the Constitution to justify their hatred and bigotry should take the time to read it,” resident Judi King wrote to the local paper.

The Ann-Arbor-based Thomas More Law Center announced earlier this month it has been retained by the city to defend the crosses on the city seal and city park.

The city removed the ones on the downtown bridge after Clarke (Atheist Resident Lloyd Clarke, 66) argued they were an unconstitutional government endorsement of religion.

But he is hardly celebrating. Stung by the community reaction, he has withdrawn from the controversy.

He hopes a Washington group, Americans United for the Separation of Church and State, will pick up the battle against the remaining crosses. The organization is considering such a move.

So the community rises up and says to him, just shaddap already. Good for them. It’s their town, too.

The Weather Channel and Weatherunderground are both saying there will be climate change – about ten o’clock and then again at noon tomorrow. If only y’all would stop driving around in your vehicles and mowing your lawns and heating your homes and… and… and… then the weather would stay the same forever and ever and ever.
