Update:
Why did I immediately think “Hamas”?

Update #2:
If my car is parked how could you justify a $2 carbon fee? Oh, you can’t unless you’re a scumbag liberal trying to squeeze a dollar out of every single orifice possible.

At some point the Big O had another “let it all hang out” moment with the 10th Annual State of the Black Union.
After 10 years of this I have a Question: Why is it necessary to have a “State of the Black Union”?
Obama was blunt:
You know that tough times for America often mean tougher times for African Americans. This recession has been no exception…
Let’s look at what he intended to convey. You know for a fact that a number of black folks listening to him were thinking the same thing on a personal level. Somewhere subconsciously the human mind processes that and assumes that black-ness plays an integral part in the amount of suffering.
I have another Question: If I have lost my job and my home, how can I possibly suffer more or less based on the color of my skin?
Later:
It will take a renewed faith in our common purpose and common values.
It is good to celebrate our common-ness by holding a separate “Black State of the Union”.
More:
I have seen that same hunger as I’ve traveled across our country among Americans united not by the color of their skin but by a shared determination to build a more perfect union.
Unity through a separate meetings that are distinguished by skin color. Way to celebrate that unity!
So, to re-iterate, we have a bunch of pissing and moaning, claiming to want unity, but with every breath proclaiming that there can be no unity until the other side embraces it, and reinforcing separateness.
I’m just surprised to see a self-run “separate but equal” approach originating from a group that claims to want the opposite.
Am I being overly sensitive? Oh, I don’t know:
Al Sharpton claims that white people have had to ask a black man to bail them out of all the trouble they’ve caused.
Brian at Six Meat Buffet notes: To cheering applause I might add. Oh, and we are “on the deck of the Titanic and we are going down!” No disagreement on that last point.
If Sharpton isn’t saying something rather dividing and racist, I am sure I don’t know what he is saying.
Another observation by Brian:
There are two Americas. The one that has advanced and the one that bitterly clings to racist stereotypes of the past. The State of the Black Union is the latter.
So, in order to help you with your problem, how about you take:
Take it because it will help you figure out all your wrong subconscious biases. You racist pig.
As a test of the usefulness and validity of the bias test, how did Sharpton score on it?
Yes, I take this rather personally. I’m kind of tired of being automatically lumped in as “part of the problem”, and seeing those who are “victimized” adding to the problem, but no one calling anyone out on it, as if it were taboo. I’ll make a point… how likely is it that someone will read this post and then claim that my views are racist or biased for raising the issue or expressing views that are less than complimentary?

Let us all barf at the Shrine of Obama. All of us besides the fawning sycophant writer of this column, that is.
You can, as I recently did, glance up at the screen during Obama’s congressional address and see not only a young, composed, African American president speaking to the populace in more thoughtful, articulate language than we’ve heard in a decade, but also note that he happens to be surrounded by a female Speaker of the House and a female Secretary of State and a smart, funny VP who, refreshingly, is not a sneering warmongering torture fanatic who enjoys sucking the blood from live baby sharks.
This, then, is our grand takeaway. If Obama can pull it off, if he can follow through with even half of these massive, historic overhauls, it will result in one of the most profound transformations and redefinitions of American ideals in history. And I gotta say, it’s damn nice to write that sentence and not be referring to warmongering and torture and God-sanctioned homophobia. What a thing.
We have, for the first time in just about forever, an enormously ambitious, confident, risk-taking president so full of grand and even borderline radical ideas they barely fit into a single generation, much less a single speech, and we have him at a time when we need, well, someone exactly like that.

Poor Nan. The snow clouds did not part for her.
Pelosi Snowed-Out of Global Warming Rally
(CNSNews.com) – Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) had to cancel an appearance Monday at a global warming rally in Washington, D.C., that was hit by a snowstorm because her flight was delayed, her office told CNSNews.com.
(blah blah blah)
A blizzard Sunday night and early Monday morning blanketed the nation’s capital with snow, causing events to be cancelled and delayed across the city.

Oh yes… Obama wants to make sure we know this as he has plenty of parties at the White House…
We are just temporary occupants. This is a place that belongs to the American people and we want to make sure that everybody understands it’s open.
So… where is my invitation?
Where have you been LK?
I took the racial bias test. My results: “too many mistakes to determine any bias.” Bwahahahaha!
I was once deposed by a bunch of attorneys, the consensus: hostile witness, to all sides.
I love being a curmudgeon.
Deposed. That sucks what country were you leader of?
Yes, I know what you meant. I was intentionally being dense.
Me, I’d say “Oh if you think I’m hostile now, you ain’t seen nothing yet. I hate lawyers.”
