One more example of the arrogance that Obama brought into the administration.

Energy Secretary Chu had this to say:

Speaking on the sidelines of a smart grid conference in Washington, Dr. Chu said he didn’t think average folks had the know-how or will to to change their behavior enough to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions.

“The American public…just like your teenage kids, aren’t acting in a way that they should act,” Dr. Chu said. “The American public has to really understand in their core how important this issue is.” (In that case, the Energy Department has a few renegade teens of its own.)   [More here…]

The WSJ did a disservice by posting an update from Chu’s public relations lackey, when they should let the man’s speech speak for itself.

Whatever people may say, most of the time what you say in an opinionated way IS how you feel and what you think.  Here is what they said:

An update: Energy Department spokesman Dan Leistikow added: “Secretary Chu was not comparing the public to teenagers. He was saying that we need to educate teenagers about ways to save energy. He also recognized the need to educate the broader public about how important clean energy industries are to our competitive position in the global economy. He believes public officials do have an obligation to make their case to the American people on major legislation, and that’s what he’s doing.”

I see very little leeway to go from one to the next.

Profiling is just wrong.  Wrong, I tell you.

Active Terror Cell Planned NY Attack

Feds Unsure if Arrests have Foiled Terror Plot

I suspect the Swedes are behind it but it could be any one of those countries – the Scandanavians are just some of the most screwed up societally.

Case in point:  Lutefisk.

I mean, the prep reads like a demon’s checklist:

The first treatment is to soak the stockfish in cold water for five to six days (with the water changed daily). The saturated stockfish is then soaked in an unchanged solution of cold water and lye for an additional two days. The fish swells during this soaking and its protein content decreases by more than 50 percent, producing its famous jelly-like consistency. When this treatment is finished, the fish (saturated with lye) has a pH value of 11–12, and is therefore caustic. To make the fish edible, a final treatment of yet another four to six days of soaking in cold water (also changed daily) is needed. Eventually, the lutefisk is ready to be cooked.

Gulp.  The lutefisk song, verse #1 goes something like this:

O Lutefisk, O Lutefisk, how fragrant your aroma,
O Lutefisk, O Lutefisk, you put me in a coma.
You smell so strong, you look like glue,
You taste just like an overshoe,
But lutefisk, come Saturday,
I tink I eat you anyway

Hey, why am I talking about Lutefisk?

Oh yes, because not only is profiling wrong at it’s core, but it is just not effective.

NYC Terror

I attached this pic (Schneider, Denver Post/AP) to make a point…  profiling just doesn’t work.  I mean, how can we engage in profiling all those little old ladies, children, invalids, and Swedes when they just don’t net us terrorists like we’d hoped?  You would think they had used some kind of profile to catch this guy but you’d be wrong.  In between searching the Swedes and grannies, someone reported an overdue movie and because one thing led to another, they caught this guy jaywalking on their way to arrest the overdue movie guy.  He was a Dane.

Heard on the radio that a bunch of Hollyw’d stars are getting together to raise awareness of Global Warming.

I suggest that those most concerned about it limit themselves to only hybrid-electric vehicles, hybrid-electric aircraft, no explosions or flames, and only work on-site.  They must show me that they are carbon-neutral before I care what they say.   I may not even then.

I’m sitting there reading the headlines as I surfed and finding articles like “OBAMA OPEN TO NEWSPAPER BAILOUT BILL...” and “OBAMA PUSH FOR 'WORLD' REGULATIONS... ” and “ACORN CEO ‘Outraged’ by Behavior of Employees in Prostitute Tapes”.  Yeah yeah yeah… blah blah blah.

And then I run across this one:

Scientists make paralysed rats run again…

This is HORRIBLE! These poor little murines are paralyzed for Pete’s sake, and they are sitting there whipping them to make them run?

Seriously, this is way way cool.

Paralysed rats whose spinal cords had been severed from their brains were made to run again using a technique that scientists say can work for people, according to a study released Sunday.

When are the libs going to learn that just throwing money around doesn’t fix a thing?

“It was probably, in the end, a complete waste of taxpayer money,’’ said John Wolkonowicz, a senior auto analyst at IHS Global Insight, Lexington forecasting firm. “The dealers, who were supposed to be the primary beneficiaries, many were forced into cash flow problems because the government didn’t pay them in a timely fashion.’’

Naked 91 year old man… you do what you gotta do, I guess.  Whatever else you want to say about the unusual circumstances, holding an intruder at gunpoint while naked shows some balls.

Authorities say a 91-year-old man in South Florida jumped out out of bed naked and held an intruder breaking into his house at gunpoint until deputies arrived.

You mean sun activity can be related to our weather and temperatures?  No.  Way.  Get out!

Really?

Perry said there is anecdotal evidence the Earth’s temperature may be slightly decreasing, but local weather patterns are much more affected by the jet stream than solar activity.

However, Perry said snow in Buenos Aires and southern Africa, the best ski season in Australia and a cooler Arctic region are some of the anecdotal evidence for a cooling period.

So, Perry said, sunspots may have a far greater impact on weather than previously thought.

Huh.  So sunspots could have a greater (far) effect on weather than previously thought. Not so fast… Global warming is still man-made even though the cooling was sun-caused.  Trust us, we know everything about the weather.

Feddema said the warming trend earlier in the century could be attributed to anything from solar activity to El Ninos. But since the mid 1980s he believes data doesn’t correlate well with solar activity, but does correlate well with rising CO2 levels.

Feddema believes we may hit global high temperatures in a few years with the underlying factor being rising CO2 levels, coupled with the solar cycle returning to a maximum and an El Nino.
