What the HELL is it with Democrats? Suddenly nothing they do can be transparent. Biggest bunch of secretive bastards we’ve seen in years.
Pelosi, D-Calif., spoke to reporters after House Democrats held a closed-door meeting at which participants vented frustration with the Senate legislation.
Der Spiegel had the funniest thing I’ve read in… oh.. I don’t know… perhaps HOURS.
US President Barack Obama suffered a painful defeat in Massachusetts on Tuesday. With mid-term elections looming, it means that Obama will have to fundamentally re-think his political course. German commentators say it is the end of hope.

Now, its new occupant is a man who not only opposes the health care bill, but also favors waterboarding as a method of interrogation for terrorism suspects and rejects carbon cap-and-trade as a means of limiting carbon emissions.
YAY!
That article quotes several other newspapers, but this one gave me the most hope.
“For everyone else in the world, this means that they will have to bid farewell to a candidate for whom the hopes were so high. They will have to say goodbye to the charisma they fell in love with. Obama will be staying home after all.”
Oh boo-hoo. The rest of the world has made it quite clear that they despise the US, seeing us as only bad/evil bullies even while holding their greedy hands out. They can keep their love-of-Obama-charisma and stay the hell away from me.

New study…
Americans are more than twice as likely to express prejudice against Muslims than they are against Christians, Jews or Buddhists, a new survey found.
We are a predominantly Judeo-Christian nation, Jews are our allies, Buddhists have never committed acts of terror against us, and there’s a huge percentage of the Muslim world that wouldn’t shed a copious amount of tears if the US just disappeared.
Why does this study claim to shed new light in any way?
More than twices as likely. As much as that, huh? How likely are we to express prejudice against Christians, Jews, or Buddhists in the first place? Help me get my bearings here on real quantities…
So I read up a bit on the group that did the study – the Gallup Center for Muslim Studies.
The Poll of the Muslim World is part of Gallup’s larger World Poll, a self-funded effort aimed at consistently measuring the well-being of 6 billion world citizens (a sample representing 95% of the Earth’s population) on a wide range of topics for the next 100 years.
Hmmm. So who is the other unrepresented 5%? Circus freaks?
Anyway, here’s a huge wad of BS as I see it:
A recent in-depth Gallup survey in 10 predominantly Muslim countries,
representing more than 80% of the global Muslim population, shows that when
asked what they admire most about the West, Muslims frequently mention political freedom, liberty, fair judicial systems, and freedom of speech. When asked to critique their own societies, extremism and inadequate adherence to Islamic teachings were their top grievances.
However, while Muslims say they admire freedom and an open political system, Gallup surveys suggest that they do not believe they must choose between Islam and democracy, but rather, that the two can co-exist inside one functional government.
And we’ve seen that idea work so very well so far, haven’t we?
Anyone seeing the glaring discrepancy here? Critiques are extremism and inadequate adherence to Islamic teachings combined with the notion that Islam and Democracy (freedom) can co-exist.
It all boils down to: We want the freedom to choose the rigid societal structure that we’ll impose on everyone else in accordance to a religion that permits cruel treatment if we so decree.
So why should Westerners have a problem with that?
