Yes, Republicans are going to do whatever it takes to race to the bottom this election.
My conclusion? This is going to have to go the way of a drunk in denial. We should step back, stop having interventions, and let them slam into the rocks on the bottom.
They are going to push for amnesty. And when they do, their party should flat out desert them. Seriously. Desert the right and run for the left.
Why? Because they need to know that nothing about them is acceptable. They have forgotten who their fathers were.
“Breathes there the man with soul so dead
Who never to himself hath said,
This is my own, my native land!
…If such there breathe, go, mark him well;
…The wretch, concentred all in self,
… doubly dying, shall go down
To the vile dust from whence he sprung,
Unwept, unhonored , and unsung.”
Sir Walter Scott (1771-1832) excerpt from “The Lay of the Last Minstrel”
It would mean a long and incredibly painful period. One that would make the last five years seem like a gentle dream, while a liberal president and a liberal congress really get to work demolishing the country.
But it is going to be necessary. People will have to see the new world envisioned by the socialists and see what the real costs are.
The whinging about term limits? It is called voting. You don’t just pull the handle for your guy, you make an educated decision about your guy, and you ditch the bitch if said bitch doesn’t represent you In a way that supports the constitution. We need a reboot. Let the virus protection software learn what it likes and doesn’t like and you will see real numbers voting in 2020. And they will vote with their minds, not with their wish-it-wases.
Even now, Obamacare has not really sunk in.
Who knows? Maybe the Republicans will wake up and realize that they will lose of they pursue this because their voting base will put them down like a rabid dog. Maybe. But I rather think of their base “They wouldn’t DARE.”
That would be wrong.

Not sure where I found it but it was cool.

The scientists are also almost certain that the results of their as yet undone studies will show that fourth, fifth, and sixth-hand smoke will be found to be even DEADLIER than smoking the cigarette itself.
http://atlanta.cbslocal.com/2014/02/03/study-third-hand-smoke-exposure-as-deadly-as-smoking/
Proof positive that they should increase the taxes by 300% to discourage smoking and to pay for the high hidden price of it. The price that kills a kitten every time a pack is opened.
I am feeling particularly sarcastic at the moment.
Eh, nothing matters anymore. Because Anthropomorphic Universe Quantum Measurement is gonna destroy the universe. No, really.
If we’re lucky it will happen before Western Civ. collapses into the black hole of it’s own absurdity.
Anthropomorphic Universe Quantum Measurement?
Will it hurt? Does it involve probing? It sounds pretty invasive, whatever it is.
Link spam bucket alert. On another (or actually kinda related) note, here’s a review of a new pistol Remington is coming out with, the R-51: http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2014/01/01/remington-announces-r-51-pistol/
I will go fish you out of the bucket.
The R-51 in .40 looks to be something I could consider. It looks like a concealed carry dream – no sharp edges and ambidextrous. Oooh. Nice find, man.
On term limits: I used to be all for them until I realized, what kind of incentive/punishment system would there be if our elected officials knew they would be out of office in four or six years anyways? How would they be beholden to their constituents?
Good point.
How about the snap system the use in Britain for the PM?
Except if they get out of line a squad just whacks ’em.
While I do like the snap system, unfortunately it doesn’t jibe with our Constitution. I really like the idea of whack squads for congress though.
Yeah, you are right, but I do envy the Brits once in a great while.
If you want examples of what the race to the bottom will look like, I point you to the two following books:
“Fallen Angels” by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle. An older book, classic, prophetic, and one of my favorites. Space Sci-fi
“The Last Centurion” by John Ringo. Much more recent, more up-to-date, but similar political premise and outcome. Military Sci-fi.
I have heard this wasn’t bad… http://www.amazon.com/Term-Limits-Vince-Flynn/dp/0671023179/ref=tmm_hrd_title_0
Fallen Angels is a great cover title. I think I will scope it out. And TLC.
Thanks for the tips.
