D-Day.

The first and primary reason for this post is D-Day.  Gotta remember it.  Never forget it.

I swear my kids will watch all of Band of Brothers and Pvt. Ryan before they leave home to enter the real world.  By God, theywill understand what our Armed Forces have done and still do for their liberty and that the US is a positive influence on the world.

We can argue about the license taken with BoB but if you want pure facts, the history books are there.  But if you want to show someone the flavor, as much as one can without living it, watch the documentaries and the movies that are everywhere.

Brings us to the other point… our Beloved Leader, also the CiC of our military, stiffed D-Day for a third year.  Not a peep.  The bastard.  And Michelle O. is asking on his behalf for another term so they can finish what they started.

My blood runs cold.

I’m going to take a stab and assume that our President and First Lady’s caregivers were not much on honoring those who have honored us through their sacrifices.

Today is also D-Day in another way.  How about as in “Stuff a Duck Day”?

California is banning foie gras.  If you don’t know what it is, it is a cruel process by which they force feed a duck vast amounts of corn so it can grow nice tasty yummy fatty liver(s).  If you don’t know where I stand on the matter, I favor a stainless saute pan but have been known to use whatever is handy. Hell, in a pinch I’d cook one in a campfire with aluminum foil, but it’s not my first choice.

Yes, in the right forms I will consume an animal’s poison filter – with gusto.   Since I am not rich I generally opt for my Christmas liver allotment in non-duck (or goose) forms – braunschweiger.  Three cheers for pigs!  I proudly carry an inverse-PETA card – People for the Eating of Tasty Animals.

Yes, I know that shoots down any chance of ever meeting Charlize Theron but I’m happily married with kids and my odds were pretty low anyway.

Doesn’t that make your insides all warm and gooey? – source: Wikipedia

I say we all run out and buy some to keep the Duck Stuffers™ in business.  Nobody wants California Duck Squeezers™ thinking it can call the shots.

Addendum: I am currently eating Cheez-Its™ and wishing to hell I had some liverwurst to smear on them.  It’s an Oregon-ey redneck-ey thing.

California woes.

Anyone know why California is sinking financially?

Well, it can’t be helped by this sort of thing.  Dog is airlifted out of park when it can’t complete hike.

Oh for ****’s sake.

Ok, on Fark… yes, it’s recycling their news… but… oh just read it.  I’m still sitting here, blinking.

More idiocy on the way, but first a funsy one!

Boing Boing!  Batman!

No, I haven't verified that the math works - too damn much work.

Today’s alarming news.

Scientists Explain Alarming Loss of Mental Function in Southern California, Northern California Mental Affliction Remains a Mystery

University of Southern California researchers have announced a study today that they claim shows a direct link between widespread brain damage and vehicular air pollution.

Governor Brown was extremely concerned about the news.

“They say that this isn’t just a matter of damage to your lungs but also to your mind.  If this is a real phenomenon it could be affecting judgment in daily life and just as importantly, if not more, at the polling stations… well, it means that we need to act fast to evaluate whether this is a very bad thing or somewhat beneficial,” said California Governor Jerry Brown, taking a deep breath and giving an emphatic nod.

There is concern that it could be affecting the young.   Earth Liberation Front spokesman Dweezil Coypu said that eliminating vehicles is a valid option if it can save just  [more…]

Marine Sgt. Takes Sniper Round To The Head; Smokes A Cigarette 15 Minutes Later.

“Manning the top of a compound south of Sangin, Afghanistan, Sgt. Paul “Headshot” Boothroyd III took a sniper round to the head. He landed face down onto the muddy roof with a thud.

Suck on that, enemy insurgent sniper bastards.

Good on yer, Sgt. Boothroyd – glad you are ok.  And kudos for one of the most awesome photos ever.

I’m pretty sure I missed something here.  Something crucial.

The NOPD is investigating the fatal shooting of man they describe as an “armed home intruder.”

[snip]

According to investigators, 21-year-old Melvin Plummer of Marrero entered a house occupied by a 30-year-old woman and her three children and brandished a handgun.  The woman, who has a concealed weapons permit, pulled a gun and shot Plummer multiple times.

E-M-S paramedics transported the suspect to a hospital where he later died.  The name of the man who was shot has not been released.

Police say the investigation is ongoing, but for now they are classifying the shooting as “justifiable.”

Chalk one up for the CCW folks.  Please notice that she didn’t go out and shoot a bunch of nice people;  The woman was a legal gun owner.)

Obama Practices What He Preaches

As is his customary style, Obama sought to maintain a balanced center, imploring Democrats and Republicans alike to be reasonable and fair-minded in the budget process.

President Obama said to the Republicans, “You want everybody to act like adults, quit playing games and realize it is not my way or the highway.”

Responding to Obama’s charisma and strong leadership style, Boehner and Reid pledged renewed efforts to completely rework the budget in order to find a solution acceptable to everyone.

Wow.  I guess the Health Care Reform was just an isolated incident.  No, not really.

California has this coming.

An Arizona utility commissioner said he’s willing to pull the plug on Los Angeles if the city goes through with a boycott of his state.

In a letter to the city of LA, a member of Arizona’s power commission said he would ask Arizona utility companies to cut off the power supply to Los Angeles. LA gets about 25 percent of its power from Arizona.

“That is one commissioner who has that idea — whether he can do that or not is another idea,” said LA Councilman Dennis Zine. “They are the ones who have to make the move, not us.”

Oh please oh please oh please boycott Arizona…

NY Times is pretty picky about what they leak.  If it is about global warming, they keep it under wraps.

But if it is about intelligence operatives undercover who are protecting our troops, they publish it, damn the consequences because the public has a right to know.

Global Warming though, that’s serious and can’t be released.

God-damned liberals.

Michael Goldfarb of the Weekly Standard said this LAST YEAR…

This is the position of the New York Times when given the chance to publish sensitive information that might hinder the liberal agenda. Of course, when the choice is between publishing classified information that might endanger the lives of U.S. troops in the field or intelligence programs vital to national security, that information is published without hesitation by the nation’s paper of record. But in this case — the documents were “never intended for the public eye,” so the New York Times will take a pass.

Ok, some students got ahold of some documents after a tip that staff were shredding documents.

I don’t mind whistleblowers if two conditions are met:  1) something was done that was wrong/illegal, and 2) they are honest and truthful.

A document fished out of a California state university trash bin last week has prompted a state investigation into the university’s foundation arm and its refusal to disclose details related to Sarah Palin’s upcoming speech at the school.

[snip]Brown’s investigation was prompted, in part, by a group of CSU Stanislaus students who retrieved five pages of the contract from a campus trash bin last Friday after hearing administrators were engaged in shredding documents.

So why hasn’t the AP asked the obvious question?  The obvious question is – how is it that they managed to find (supposedly) damning documents about Sarah Palin’s contract to make a speech there IF THEY WERE TIPPED OFF ABOUT DOCUMENT SHREDDING?  If someone was shredding documents they wouldn’t have put those out there in unshredded form.

Regarding the excerpt of Palin’s contract, [Russell Giambelluca, the university’s vice president of business and finance] said: “I find it interesting that among shredded documents you find one that’s completely intact related to the contract.”

Good observation!

Alicia Lewis, 26, was one of the students who went to investigate. The building was locked and gated, but the students were able to retrieve piles of paperwork, including the contract document, from a nearby trash bin, Lewis said.

[snip]

Lewis and another student, Ashli Briggs, traveled to Sacramento Tuesday to give Brown office material they said had been thrown out, including two boxes of documents and two trash bags filled with shredded files.

“This is our little Watergate in the state of California,” [state Sen. Leland Yee] said Tuesday.

It sure is your little Watergate – except you did the breaking and entering you idiots.  I won’t buy for a second that you found the documents intact in a pile of other shredded documents.

Time to institute punishment such as caning.

Villalobos is accused of repeatedly flashing a green laser light at National Guard Air 1 helicopter, which blinded the pilot causing him difficulty in flying the air craft.

On the ground, a Camden police unit responded to the corner of Alabama Road and Congress Road and located Villalobos sitting inside a red Dodge minivan. Police approached Villalobos, who admitted to being the person flashing the laser light at the helicopter, saying that he thought it had been a news helicopter.

Oh, well that would have been ok, then.

Creativity runs rampant when it comes to budgeting, only political budgeting never starts with “How much do we have that we can responsibly spend?” or “What do we need and can we afford it?”   No, political budgeting starts with “Here’s what we want, get a ballpark cost on it and then we’ll raise taxes by whatever is required as we know more.”

House Democrats Have “Lots Of Potential Targets For Higher Taxes” To Pay For Government-Run Health Care. “House Democrats have lots of potential targets for higher taxes as they aim to expand health care coverage to reach the roughly 50 million that experts say are uninsured. Also under consideration are higher alcohol taxes, increases to the Medicare payroll tax and a value-added tax, a sort of national sales tax, of up to 1.5 percent or moreThe [other] tax options include: increasing the price of soda and other sugary drinks by 10 cents a can, applying a potential 2 percent income tax increase to single taxpayers earning more than $200,000 a year and households earning more than $250,000, a new employer payroll tax could target 3 percent of employers’ health care expenditures, taxing employer-provided health insurance benefits above certain levels … House Democrats planned to unveil a draft of their sweeping health care bill Friday … The draft, being released at a news conference … was not expected to mention the potentially unpopular tax options.” (Erica Werner, “House Eyes New Taxes As Senators Pare Health Bill,” The Associated Press, 6/19/09)

A “sort of national sales tax, of up to 1.5 percent or more”.  Well, that pretty much hedges the bets, doesn’t it?  I guess even if you do a 6% national sales tax it still is a true statement.

This is a cheap shot but raising the price of soda by 10¢ a bottle is… a regressive tax!  Yahoo!

NBC’s Chuck Todd: The honeymoon is coming to an end for President Obama, but it’s not personal. It’s professional, as now the public appears to be judging the president on some of his actions.” (NBC‘s “Nightly News,” 6/17/09)

They’re JUST NOW judging him on his actions?  Oh yeah, they’re in bed, all right.

THAT’S the religion of peace I know so well!

Neda Soltan, Iranian innocent bystander, shot to death next to the car she had been riding in.  Bled to death on the street.

Why shot?  Because the peace-lovin’ religious leaders in Iran decided that people demanding some level of self-determination was a Bad Thing.  So they shot these criminals, these lovers of freedom and peace.

Her family scheduled a memorial service to be held in a mosque in northern Tehran, but the government forbade ceremony. She was buried quietly at Tehran’s Behesht Zahra cemetery on Sunday with only her family present, says Soona Samsami, executive director of the Women’s Freedom Forum, who has been relaying information about protests inside Iran to international media.

All mosques were given a direct order from the government barring them from holding any memorial services for Neda, and her family was threatened with grave consequences if anyone gathered to mourn her, said Samsami.

In all but the rarest of instances, look for religion to be used as a tool to control people.   I am not anti-religion.  I’m anti-humans-controlling-religion.

A teenager who claimed 56 stars were tattooed on her face while she slept has admitted she lied and was awake the whole time.

London’s Daily Telegraph reported Kimberley Vlaminck, who said she fell asleep after asking for only three stars, lied because her father was “furious.”

“I asked for 56 stars and initially adored them,” Vlaminck told a Dutch TV crew. “But when my father saw them, he was furious. So I said I fell asleep and that the (he) had made a mistake.”

Let this be a lesson kids.  If you’re thinking of getting a tattoo on your face, think about what people will say.  Then get one of a naked lady.
