Sorry there hasn’t been a lot of stuff posted lately.  Been working very late hours.  I have been working on a graphic for cbullitt which piques my interest because I’m having to learn a lot to do it.  We’ll see how it turns out.

But real quick…

If Bush had done this there would have been calls for crucifixion.  Obama announces plan for offshore drilling.

I still say the prudent thing to do is use OTHER people’s resources, even at a higher price and preserve local resources.  I take the LONG view of petroleum usage…  and there’s no telling when you may need resources that are blocked off everywhere else.

Just sayin’.

It looks bad.  I’m not surprised.  How are they going to spin this, I wonder?  Perhaps they’ll flip and say “Well, we guess our data was better after all because obviously global warming is real.”  I mean, just look at polar bear rings and drowning trees for proof.

NASA Data Worse Than Climate-Gate Data, Space Agency Admits

E-mail messages obtained by a Freedom of Information Act request reveal that NASA concluded that its own climate findings were inferior to those maintained by both the University of East Anglia’s Climatic Research Unit (CRU) — the scandalized source of the leaked Climate-gate e-mails — and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Climatic Data Center.

The e-mails from 2007 reveal that when a USA Today reporter asked if NASA’s data “was more accurate” than other climate-change data sets, NASA’s Dr. Reto A. Ruedy replied with an unequivocal no. He said “the National Climatic Data Center’s procedure of only using the best stations is more accurate,” admitting that some of his own procedures led to less accurate readings.

“My recommendation to you is to continue using NCDC’s data for the U.S. means and [East Anglia] data for the global means,” Ruedy told the reporter.

And then…

“The different groups have cooperated in a very friendly way to try to understand different conclusions when they arise,” said Dr. James Hansen, head of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies, in the same 2007 e-mail thread. Earlier this month, in an updated analysis of the surface temperature data, GISS restated that the separate analyses by the different agencies “are not independent, as they must use much of the same input observations.”

A “very friendly way” is a nice way of saying “we colluded to support each other”.

With his lower lip stuck out and a petulant glare, Dr. Lovelock gave a snippy interview with The Guardian.

“I don’t think we’re yet evolved to the point where we’re clever enough to handle a complex a situation as climate change,” said Lovelock in his first in-depth interview since the theft of the UEA emails last November. “The inertia of humans is so huge that you can’t really do anything meaningful.”

Yet individuals such as himself are enlightened beyond the rest of us 6 billion people with vastly inferior minds.  Good for you, doc.  Go blow a goat.

Evening update:

Speaking of “Unifiers, not Dividers”, shall we look at our Democrat-controlled congress?  Giddy on huffed paint fumes they rush headlong into tyranny.

Those of us who can’t read for squat know him as “clambake” (because we transpose ltteres, apparently) has a post worth reading.  Yes he attributes it to Subotai, and rightly so, but I read it at clambake’s first.  🙂

By any name, he is a self-proclaimed patriot and is one in reality, too.

A new photo definition of “douchebag” will feature Nancy Pelosi.  Thank you, Washington Post for reporting

After laying the groundwork for a decisive vote this week on the Senate’s health-care bill, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi suggested Monday that she might attempt to pass the measure without having members vote on it.

Instead, Pelosi (D-Calif.) would rely on a procedural sleight of hand: The House would vote on a more popular package of fixes to the Senate bill; under the House rule for that vote, passage would signify that lawmakers “deem” the health-care bill to be passed.

The tactic — known as a “self-executing rule” or a “deem and pass” — has been commonly used, although never to pass legislation as momentous as the $875 billion health-care bill. It is one of three options that Pelosi said she is considering for a late-week House vote, but she added that she prefers it because it would politically protect lawmakers who are reluctant to publicly support the measure.

Got that?

“It’s more insider and process-oriented than most people want to know,” the speaker said in a roundtable discussion with bloggers Monday. “But I like it,” she said, “because people don’t have to vote on the Senate bill.”

Just like Global Worming, voting and discussion is such a poor way of getting what you want, so you just short circuit all those who don’t agree with you.

Spoken like a bunch of effin’ nine year olds.  Great, Congress running our country is headed up by a bunch of nine-year olds.

Show me a self-professed Uniter, and I’ll show you a man who thinks if he says it enough times he’ll believe it himself.  Put differently, a self-proclaimed Uniter is frequently a divider with delusions.

Obama has shown zero ability to unite people.  Oh sure, he had a beer with high-strung professor and a cop, but you can’t convince me that both men didn’t walk away with the exact same opinion of each other that they came to the meeting with.  You also can’t convince me that Obama thinks the cops are any less stupid than he thought when he proclaimed his judgment aloud in the beginning.

So now, proof positive that Obama is such a poor uniter that one of our strongest allies is on the outs with us.  Between Obama and his in-all-but-name Mentor, Jimmy Carter, Israel has little reason to love the U.S. – at least until a changing of the guard.  One can only hope that they don’t reason that the rest of the U.S. feels as our current White House administration does.

Obama is so intent on pushing his agendas through that he’s neglecting the very basics of statesmanship and how to behave as the proper figurehead to our nation.

Stay classy, Mr. President.

It seems that it is easy to love him (if you are an idiot) but to know him is to dislike him.  Washington Post excerpt from an pretty decent op-ed…

The paradox here is that Obama remains hugely popular abroad — from Germany and France to countries where anti-Americanism has recently been a problem, such as Turkey and Indonesia. His following means that, in democratic countries at least, leaders have a strong incentive to befriend him. And yet this president appears, so far, to have no genuine foreign friends. In this he is the opposite of George W. Bush, who was reviled among the foreign masses but who forged close ties with a host of leaders — Aznar of Spain, Uribe of Colombia, Sharon and Olmert of Israel, Koizumi of Japan.

Hey, what does Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas’ wife’s political leanings have to do with ANYTHING? Suddenly his wife (or him for that matter) is not supposed to have opinions and biases just because he’s a SCJ?  Bias is a fact of life.  A SJC is understood to have bias, but the unpardonable sin for them is prejudgment.  The difference is in one “if I can judge in a particular way I will” vs. “I will judge a particular way in spite of any and all arguments”.

She’s got my support.  The police had no business reporting her marriage document or sexual orientation to the military.  She did indeed play by the rules.

What a cry for attention.  “Woman aims to be world’s fattest.”

Talk about sad.  Honestly, people around her should just ignore her until she makes sense.

But no, she has committed enablers:

Her 49-year-old partner Philippe — who she met on a dating site for plus-size people — was encouraging her to reach her goal, she said.

“I think he’d like it if I was bigger … he’s a real belly man and completely supports me,” she said.

Lady,  NOTHING is going to be able to completely support you.  Unless it has rebar-reinforced foundations and bedrock in the vicinity.

Special Olympics does not accept Rahm Emmanuel’s apology for calling someone else effin’ ‘tards.  In response Special Olympics spokesman little Eric Cartman from South Park, Colorado, has a message for Rahm.

Spokesperson Eric Cartman sez "We don't f-ing accept your apology, Rahm."

Yes, I know some of you have retarded friends or family.  So do I.  Retarded folks aren’t the target here – Rahm is.  The episode in question is found here.

Even while they can’t control their own mouths they want to control everyone else’s…

The president’s advice came in answer to a question from Sen. Mike Bennet, D-CO, who is facing a difficult re-election fight back home and wanted to know what Democrats and Republicans can do “to fix this institution so that our democracy can actually withstand the test that we’re facing right now.”

“You know what I think would actually make a difference, Michael? I think if everybody here — excuse all the members of the press who are here — if everybody here turned off your CNN, your Fox, your blogs,” Obama said, before being interrupted by Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-CA, who piped up, “And MSNBC!”

A quick update/detour…

This isn’t news.  Obama advisor Eliseo Medina:

Granting citizenship to millions of illegal immigrants would expand the “progressive” electorate and help ensure a “progressive” governing coalition for the long term, declared a recent adviser to President Obama whose union group is among the most frequent visitors to the White House.

Come on, WND – seems to me that this is pretty obvious stuff.
Let’s take a poll.

Note: Aggie Sith is right… this is a conflicted poll. I’m not experienced at it yet. Answer whichever one most feels like “you”. If you answer “dead patriotic” it means that yes you saw it coming and you aren’t happy – not happy at all.

On Drudge…

CBSNEWS anchorwoman and 60 MINUTES contributor Katie Couric faces a dramatic pay cut at the network...[snip]

Couric, the highest paid TV news personality in history, commands over $14 million a year...[snip]...a populist backlash against Couric's cash is said to be forming inside the newsroom.

"She makes enough to pay 200 news reporters $75,000 a year!" demands a veteran producer. [snip] The angry source continues: "We report with great enthusiasm how much bankers are making, how it is out of step with reality during a recession. Well, look at Katie!"

Just last night I was watching South Park’s More Crap episode.  Every 2-1/2 of crap in one “load” is one unit in the measurement scale for such things.  Guess what the measurement unit is?  Not pounds, kilos, or anything like that.

1 Katie Couric = 2.5 lbs of crap

Yes, a 10lb pile of crap is 4 Katie Courics.

Later in that piece…  Surely Godfather, you will help us in our time of need after all these years we have been loyal to you…

EDITOR'S NOTE: Former CBS News anchor Dan Rather called on President Barack Obama to form a White House commission to help save the press. Tears welled in the lifelong reporter’s eyes as he discussed the dwindling number of war correspondents.

Dedicated to LC Aggie Sith over at Hookers and Booze because LCAS’s enthusiasm was the impetus I needed to do this graphic… recognize it, even.

Here ya go, Aggie.  Contrast is low so it doesn’t look like much until you do open it.

Gets bigger if you click on it.

Sidebar ready (or shovel-ready) is a smaller size… 237 by something-or-other, but I don’t know if I’m going to add it.  It’s okayyyy, but… to me… meh.  It loses a lot when squeezed.  I’ll try it.  Look over at the right, see what you think.
