Brit Hume hit the nail on the head.  The pundits have been trying to make sense of the polls and reportage, because they make little or no sense.

He said we have X percentage of conservatives.  We have Y percentage of liberals.  That leaves 40% moderates.

His answer is that most of those moderates are liberals.  Liberals became a dirty word and so it became better to call themselves moderates.

FACT:  Liberals are very good at changing their colors.  Not liberals… Moderates.  Just like Global Warming morphed into Climate Change and so on.
It’s all in what you call yourself.  A win on the conservative side for standing by your ideals, saying what you are, refusing to buy people with free stuff, and calling it like you see it is a Pyrrhic victory – yes, we have won on the side of being true, but we keep getting the shit bashed out of us when it comes to a nation of people who say “What you got fo me?”

Mayor Rahm Emanuel went on the defensive Thursday about a surge of recent homicides in Chicago and questioned why new law enforcement tactics hadn’t been created before he was elected 10 months ago.

“You can say, ‘Are you doing it right,'” Emanuel said, “but the question is, ‘Why were those policies not done before?‘”  – NBC Chicago

A side note – I think we can assume that Rahm helped firm up Obama’s skillset in the area of redirecting blame.

To answer Rahm’s question – – – it’s probably Bush’s fault.

New Black Panther chief of staff Michelle Williams (as reported by WTSP.com):

Michelle said during that interview, “Let me tell you, the things that’s about to happen, to these honkeys, these crackers, these pigs, these pink people, these —- people. It has been long overdue. My prize right now this evening … is gonna be the bounty, the arrest, dead or alive, for George Zimmerman. You feel me?”

Then later after she “apologizes” she says:

In a candid moment during her 10 News interview, she said, “Do I want to see George Zimmerman dead? No. Do I want to see him brought to justice? Hell yes.”

Michelle assured us that she doesn’t want to have anyone out there pick up a gun. “I don’t want violence, I don’t promote violence. That’s why I told you, my words were out of anger.”

But didn’t she say earlier that her prize would be “the bounty, the arrest, dead or alive, for George Zimmerman”?  I’m confused.  But if we take her at her word, picking up a tree limb and bludgeoning Zimmerman to death would be A-OK in her book.

Could we also assume that to her the word “apologize” means anything but the spin South Park puts on Jesse Jackson’s definition of “apologize”?

Anyway, she’s just another of a long line of leftist turds who only apologize when they realize that no one is going to back them up after their bullsh*t behavior, and as a result only petulantly give what seems like an apology but amounts to “I’m sorry you got offended when I told you the truth”.

Democrats have engaged in a full-court press in pushing back on strategist Hilary Rosen’s comment on CNN Wednesday night that as a wealthy stay-at-home-mom Ann Romney “never worked a day in her life.”

Rosen apologized to Romney Thursday, but only after kicking up a firestorm over stay-at-home motherhood and drawing a rebuke from the president himself.

Apologized “but only after kicking up a firestorm”?  Seriously, a journalism major wrote this?  How/why in the hell would anyone apologize before kicking up a firestorm?

Obama kicked the few teeth she had remaining clear into the back of her throat (yay):

“There is no tougher job than being a mom,” President Obama told a Cedar Rapids television station, mentioning his own wife and mother. He added, “I don’t have a lot of patience for commentary about the spouses of political candidates. My general view is those of us who are in the public life, we’re fair game. Our families are civilians.”

Oh, I don’t know – being a dad isn’t always a walk in the park, either, you nimwit.  And if you were obliquely referring to Michelle as being a civilian, not when she pushes meal choices on our military and engages in indoctrination of our kids she’s not.

Hey, here’s another “apology”!

“As a mom I know that raising children is the hardest job there is. As a pundit, I know my words on CNN last night were poorly chosen,” Rosen said in a statement Thursday afternoon. “I apologize to Ann Romney and anyone else who was offended. Let’s declare peace in this phony war and go back to focus on the substance.”

“… to Ann Romneyand anyone else who was offended”.

That is the CLASSIC apology that says “I’m sorry you couldn’t take my truths,”  which is really no apology at all.  She’d have been more convincing if she’d said through clenched teeth, “I apologize to Ann Romney (da bitch)”.

You hang an adulterated US flag with a picture of a controversial bonehead on it and it never occurred that it might not be popular?  Riiiiiight.

Once he became aware of their objections, Kennedy worked out his own solution.

Kennedy hopes his neighbors are happy, though he’s not sure.

Evil-minded?  Is that what we’re calling patriotism and respect for the flag now?  Must be lib-speak.

Mob rule is what Congress is all about.

I’m a big enough guy to admit that my support of the rep from Michigan – my admission of respect if not actually liking the guy – was naive and probably one of the stupider things I’ve ever done and said in my life.

See, when I say something like what Stupak said, I stand behind what I say.  He caved.  He showed he’s got no intrinsic value.  His word is less than dirt.

Schlafly had some very good things to say about that sack of shit and his cohorts.  She said what I felt in my bones even if I couldn’t say it like she did:

“Any formerly pro-life Democrat who casts a ‘Yes’ vote for this Senate health care bill tonight will be forever remembered as being among the deciding votes which facilitated the largest expansion of abortion services since Roe v. Wade.”

“Mr. Stupak and his Democrat followers have now clarified that you cannot be pro-life and be a Democrat.  If abortion was truly their biggest issue, they wouldn’t willfully align themselves with the Party of Death.”

“This vote will expose the myth of the ‘pro-life Democrat.’  With this single vote, the Democratic Party will divide our nation into the Party of Death and the Party of Life, and future elections will never be the same.”

I posted a comment over at Enas’ (Center of the Anomaly) that I like enough to say ’screw it’ and post here.

What could go right in all of this? Well, it could get bound up in courts right quick. It also has a long fuse, at least for some of it. There aren’t a great many months the libtards have before the next election and so we can hope for a sweeping out of the trash, and getting right down to the business of reversing what damage can be reversed.

But they can do a hell of a lot of damage in the meantime.

The hidden bonus that could be waiting is for a sea-change of sorts – one in which people wake up and realize that hope-n-change kind of thinking is really damned naive and childish. I would hope that the more subtle payoff in any such sea-change is that the republicans actually become conservatives rather than bank on “brand name” and don’t see mixup as a mandate for their screwball policies.

I think it’s probably far too much to expect that even more would come out of this.  The recognition that entitlement programs have always had the most fervent support from those who benefit most who also pay the least in taxes.  Somehow this fact doesn’t piss anyone off.

We have entitlement programs coming due and we’re adding more.  Social Security.  Medicare.  Medicaid.  National Health Care.

Politicians can’t even begin to figure out how to roll out of the way of Social Security before that runaway truck slams into us, and they’re adding national health care?  This is like using avgas as the liquid of choice to put out a house fire.

If the republicans – the self-proclaimed conservatives – in office now cannot suddenly behave as a truly fiscally responsible body, then we must get rid of them, too.

Schlafly said “This vote will expose the myth of the ‘pro-life Democrat.”   And this is a fatal mis-step on the part of any scheming democrat party leader.  Not for a very long time will they be able to claim that they stand in both worlds like Stupak did.  Because when the time came to stand up and be counted, they chose to be placed in one camp or the other – there was no in-between here.  Too bad for them.

A three-person board of inquiry cleared Mann of three of four charges brought by the university that he falsified or tried to destroy data, and recommended further study on the fourth charge that his methods “deviated from accepted practices” of the scientific community.

They wrote in their report that “that there exists no credible evidence that Dr. Mann had ever engaged in, or participated in, directly or indirectly, any actions with intent to delete, conceal or otherwise destroy e-mails, information and/or data.”  – Fox News

From the report, the contributors consisted of:

The investigatory committee was proclaimed by the report writers to have “impeccable credentials”.

Hardly unbiased since who would want to rat on someone in their own institution?  Do you really think the VP for Research, the Dean for Graduate Research, and the Office for Research Protections are going to want improprieties around them to be brought to light?

Outlined in the paper, based on accusations surrounding the leaks, they synthesized allegations (sounds a lot like homogenization of data, doesn’t it?) which boiled down to questions:

The Politics of Pissiness for the Sake of Spite.

So, liberal leaders are now leaning on the moderates in their party.

“Criticism from liberals is almost a political endorsement here,” said Loree Bykerk, a political science professor at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Moderate Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Neb., is among those targeted.

Even so, the liberal MoveOn.org said that in a survey of its 5 million members, 93 percent said the group should not support Democrats who are on the same side as Republicans when it comes to a health overhaul. “No donations, no volunteering and no help getting out the vote,” MoveOn said in an e-mail last week.

Hmm.  Ok, check to make sure there are no obstructions in your weapon – clear anything foreign that might cause a jam.  Now lever in a cartridge, click the safety off, point the weapon downwards, and pull the trigger while it is aimed squarely at your foot.  Repeat five or six times until you pass out.

Please.

Please do so.  I really want to see spoiled rotten crybabies get so angry about not getting everything they want that they engage in internecine warfare.  Don’t like your allies’ choices?  Well, screw ’em!  Yeah!  That’ll serve them right.  Then they’ll be sorry when there’s a 30% turnover in the democratic ranks, that’ll… what?  Well, we didn’t mean for them to leave!!

Included that snippet above because I found it on Yahoo.  ABC-News is running news articles that are less than gushing with the breathy sounds of swelling bosoms.  Hell, the NEW YORK TIMES has run articles critical of this current establishment of whiny arrogant liberals, and has even broached the taboo topic of voters being less than thrilled with the O’Messiah.  For such a bunch of big talkers about being fair and open-minded and their willingness to bridge divides, reach across the aisle, work together in the spirit of bipartisanship… they’ve really done not much more than be a bunch of loud bullying assholes.

I wonder if they have noticed that people are more aware of what a financial failure MediCare/Aid is than they thought, and if they have noticed that their claims of budget neutrality draw no believers.  All those claims result in are more potential swing-to-the-right votes.

Ready.  Aim.  Fire.  Repeat.

Health care is expensive? More so than you could ever imagine if all you did was read the House Health Bill, it seems.

The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimated in its study last week that the House bill would bring in $167 billion over 10 years — $33 billion from fines paid by individuals who decline to buy insurance, and the rest from employers who don’t offer insurance to workers or contribute enough toward premiums.

Ernest Istook … a fellow at the conservative Heritage Foundation, calculated that anywhere between 8 million and 14 million people would end up paying the fines.

This raises a few problems, he said. First, if those millions somehow get covered and don’t pay the fine, then the health program is faced with a budget hole.

Second … it speaks to a flaw with the insurance packages that are being offered. “If you say people would rather pay $167 billion in penalties rather than buy insurance under your new plan, what’s wrong with your new plan?” he asked.

The answer, Istook said: “It’s expensive.”

This is how the US should work.  If you don’t impact anyone else so they have to deal with your sh*t, then live free and no one to bother you.  But if your sh*t means that it is now your neighbor’s sh*t to deal with…?  Fix it or move.  Sometimes I get to say:  What a great country we live in!  And no one had to take it to a high court with bazillions of appeals.  Does a $100/day fine seem a bit steep without first giving a grace period?  Yeah, but if the laws were already on the books about a 3-cat limit…  Seriously, how many cats do you need?  If you have 30 cats and they pose no problem, have at!  If you have two and they crap on the neighbor’s veggies and chew on their herb garden, it’s a problem.

DUDLEY —  Voters last night added language to a town bylaw that will make it illegal to own more than three cats without a kennel license, though Selectman Steven Sullivan said housing three felines was already a violation.

The article came after a neighborhood feud over cats owned by Mary Ellen Richards of Kennedy Drive.

Some of Mrs. Richards’ 15 cats are allowed outside, and one neighbor said the cats have ruined his yard.

The discussion at town meeting last night had Mrs. Richards warning residents that the $100 per day fines being imposed on her could also be imposed on them if they fail to get kennel licenses for their pets.

She has put her home up for sale and plans to move to a “more cat-friendly community,” but vowed to fight the fines.

Note:  I managed to make a statement that was caught by Allen and I want to put it up front – the kind of individual who I had in mind when writing this was the individual who suddenly decides they are the conscientious objector type only when faced with being called up.  Allen is very right to point out that there are examples of genuine and honorable conscientious objectors and it should be recognized.

Women should register for Selective Service. But he does not approve of a draft.  He’s been taking lessons from the Great Prevaricator, WJC.

“And I think that if women are registered for service — not necessarily in combat roles, and I don’t agree with the draft — I think it will help to send a message to my two daughters that they’ve got obligations to this great country as well as boys do.”

How’s about we take a peek at “Selective Service”?  We’ll humor Wikipedia and pretend like it is factually trustworthy… in this case it is.

The Selective Service System is the means by which the United States administers military conscription. It entails registering all males between the ages of 18 and 25 with the system for the purpose of having information available about potential soldiers in the event of war.

The description on the Selective Service website (government):

The legislation under which this agency operates is the Military Selective Service Act. Under this law, the mission of the Selective Service System is twofold: to deliver untrained manpower to the armed forces in time of emergency in accordance with requirements established by the Department of Defense, and to administer the alternative service program for conscientious objectors.  It is in these instances that my “ought to have the balls” statement should not and cannot apply – Thanks Allen – LK

Huh.  So, Selective Service registration essentially has two purposes – one, to gather information for a draft. The second is for conscientious objectors who wish to live here and partake of the freedoms in this country but are too lily-livered to ever follow through with doing their duty if it required actual fighting or service.  (Yeah, I feel pretty strongly about this – if your neighbor is man enough to go if/when he is drafted – and possibly die in doing so – you ought to have the balls to do it, too.  THAT is why I honor and respect veterans – draftees or voluntary servicemen.)

Obama goes to say:

But he did say women should be expected to register with the Selective Service, comparing the role of women to black soldiers and airmen who served during World War II, when the armed forces were still segregated.

“There was a time when African-Americans weren’t allowed to serve in combat,” Mr. Obama said. “And yet, when they did, not only did they perform brilliantly, but what also happened is they helped to change America, and they helped to underscore that we’re equal.

In no way is there a correlation between blacks and women in combat.  NONE.

Gas Price Map is Noteworthy – and the Decline of Real Men

GAS PRICES. How about them, eh?

I’m not going to bitch about them. They are what they are. Go buy a smaller vehicle. Eat out less. Carpool. Take a bus. Anything. Quit bitching about it. I know they’re high, I pay the same prices. It’s largely driven by supply/demand, speculation on tomorrow’s prices for gas required to replace todays usage, and taxes.

Do take a look at this map. Notice how the gas prices which include taxes are highest in the most liberal states? If you want to ask why the prices are high, don’t forget to ask why your gas TAXES are excessively high while you are at it. These red states (some of them) are also big users of the so-called bouquet formulations, which add cost as well. Typically these formulations are also driven by environmental concerns… which come from… where? Figure it out.

(Hint: If you are poor and being dragged into the ground – and vote liberal – ask the people you helped vote into power why they are adding fuel to the fire in making your life hell.)

They sell obscene amounts of gas to us guzzlers. Ergo, they make “obscene profits”. Please, do try to be more intelligent than a pet rock.

British Airways takes beef off the menu to avoid offending Hindus

For decades the national dish has been a staple meal on the national carrier.

But now British Airways has taken beef off the menu for economy passengers amid concerns about its “religious restrictions”.

The airline has instead switched to a fish pie or chicken dish option for the so-called “cattle class” passengers.

BA’s second-biggest long-haul market is to India, where the majority Hindu population do not eat beef because of their beliefs. (more…)

I don’t drink alcohol, it’s my problem, not yours – if you want to drink it, have at!

“We are still serving beef based meals on certain menus in First Class and Club World and are currently deciding on whether or not to use beef on the menus for World Traveller customers for the winter season.”

The Hindu Council UK said: “The Hindu community will welcome this decision and the news it has been made partly because Hindus don’t eat beef.

“Hindus have a great deal of respect for British culture and are well integrated into the British way of life, so it’s good to see evidence of how they are literally flying the British flag by choosing British Airways.

“That said, Hindus are tolerant of the beliefs of others and do not expect everyone to stop eating a food because they do not eat it.”

In the past three months world beef prices have risen from about £2,500 a tonne to more than £4,000 a tonne, largely because of the weakening dollar and rising feed costs.

BA also said that cost is not a reason for the decision to stop serving beef.

Now we’re getting somewhere. Namely we have gotten NOWHERE. “It has nothing to do with causing offence” and “cost is not a reason for the decision to stop serving beef.”

So what the hell IS the reason? We can only serve two options is NOT a good reason – double the veggies and make it a vegetarian meal (bitch about that, why don’t you?). Great, what if MY religion doesn’t allow me to eat fish or chicken? Gonna stop that, too? What if I just don’t LIKE fish or chicken, and they make me want to barf? My point is stop trying to be so damned accommodating by chopping out options for everybody else.

C’mon people, join me in eating a cow today. March right out the door, get into your car, drive to the nearest Wendy’s/McDonald’s, Burker King, Dairy Queen, or whatever, and eat not one, but TWO burgers.
