Why are the rest of us sane people allowing lies to stand?

I’ll give you an example or two.

Big Sis Says Patdowns to Become the Norm

Why have we allowed security to be tightened on every single person when we all know damn well that followers of Islam have a much higher percentage of folks willing to engage in terrorism?  Setting underwear on fire, explosives in body cavities, toner cartridge bombs, flying planes into buildings, car bombs, homicide bombers, beheadings, torture (and please don’t even try to equate waterboarding with burning, sledgehammers, and woodchippers, that’s another lie I won’t be a part of)

Illegal Immigrants Aliens

  1. Why call them immigrants?  Immigrants come here legally.  Aliens do not.
  2. Why do we not say “With the legal avenues to get a green card, why sneak in?”  The answer being that there are not enough green cards given out isn’t a valid excuse.  It IS WHAT IT IS.
  3. Why have we allowed voting, licenses, rentals, medical, etc. for people who are breaking the law?
  4. Why do we tolerate the statements “We’ve been here for years and been good citizens, kids in school, pay our bills” when the real question is “Why are you here illegally?”  I don’t much care about your life here because you’re here illegally.
  5. Why do we allow people to make the argument that “These are jobs that wouldn’t get done”?  That’s bullsh*t.  That’s totally ignoring the fact that they’re still here illegally.

Know why we live in such a peaceful society?

Because our moral code generally doesn’t allow for violent lawlessness.  We don’t require bribes at every single level of our government as “that’s just the way we do things” such that it costs people twice as much just to go get groceries or travel in certain areas.  We don’t generally do whatever notion takes our fancy because our religion says we can.

Pick whatever exception to that you’d like, but it’s just another shared lie when people try to draw moral equivalence to genital mutilation, shootings/beheadings/dismemberments, honor killings, retribution, and generally we frown on targeting innocents, women, and children.

Don’t bother to tell me that we bomb families in Afghanistan – that happens because Taliban forces hide behind the skirts of women and little children like cowards.   I defy you to find me one country that puts as much emphasis on making sure there isn’t collateral damage.

Health care.

Tell me all the reasons why we should have universal health care, tell me sob story after story.

The lie is that we owe it to others.  NO we DON’T.  You can’t fix everyone’s problems like politicians (and a lot of people think).  If we could do that then we would have the resources to make this a perfect world and I assure you, we do not.  Not close, and it would never be equal – some would pay lots and others would pay nothing.

In the final analysis two questions must be answered:  (1) Is there anything at all in the Constitution that says one citizen must be taxed to pay for another citizen’s health care?  (there are many many things that could be substituted in for “health care”, and (2) Assume that the answer to #1 was “yes”, is there any way you can pay for it and Social Security – itself unconstitutional – and Medicare/Medicaid?

The third question is a bit harder, colder, but still a valid one.  What moral imperative do *I* have to care for *you*?   Seriously.   Walk into a restaurant and say “I don’t have a nice car and can’t hardly afford a bad one either, so I want you all to take $20 out of your wallets and put the money in the bag I have here.”  You wouldn’t get very far.  So why is it ok to tax people to pay for other people’s Cash for Clunkers, or First Time Buyer’s Credit, or TARP/bailout money… the list gets quite long.  If you go back to the restaurant example, how many people would say “I don’t know you, go screw yourself?”

They would be completely within their rights to do so.  But apparently not if the Federal Gov’t decides to make that transaction on your “behalf”.

Lie #4:  Progressive taxation is anything but unfair.

Where’d the idea come from that success should be penalized?  Who came up with the idea that rich=evil?  Ten percent across the board is almost never heard.  Think about why that is.  Pressures come from both top and bottom to stop that kind of thinking but it’s really the only one that makes a lick of sense.

Public Safety Announcment follows this new material…

SCIENTISTS at the University of East Anglia (UEA) have admitted throwing away much of the raw temperature data on which their predictions of global warming are based.

It means that other academics are not able to check basic calculations said to show a long-term rise in temperature over the past 150 years.  – TimesOnline.Co.UK

In spite of these grave actions, those who wish to believe in AGW  claim that this changes nothing, in effect trying to use the same thought processes that lead people to believe the philosophical myth that you cannot prove a negative.  Actually you can if you agree to base your arguments in reality:

The preponderance of data seems to show that we are not currently warming up.

The scientists that committed the “boo-boo” have said:

We do not hold the original raw data but only the value-added (quality controlled and homogenised) data.  – CRU Website

In other words – we can’t prove our outrageous claims but you can trust us, what we’re showing you is legitimate and even better than the original data. “Quality controlled and homogenized”?  To the layman, this means that the data was extensively massaged to lean wherever the hell the scientists wanted it to lean.  Their models have to have a great number of assumptions built in and to not release the data means that they do not want the scrutiny, which also means that their conclusions are highly suspect.  No scientist ever destroys data.  That would be like saying that a mechanic puts pebbles in the cylinders as he is putting on the head gasket and getting ready to button the engine up – it just isn’t done.

Seems to me that the larger problem is how many people who have predicated their research on Climate Change in the echo-chamber lined with the CRU-doctored data and James Hansen’s (NASA) own credibility issues.

This is a technique I need to use with the IRS.  Really, my records were lost but my spreadsheet here shows that I only owed $0.79 and am entitled to almost all of my withholdings.  Honest.  Why would I lie to you?

****Public Safety Announcement****

Ok, I poo-poo’ed the H1N1 flu.  Yes, I think I got it back in July.  Yes I survived.  Yes, I felt like dying.

Most people survive just fine.

If you happen to be like a friend of mine, you get sick, you get sicker, you get can’t-breathe-hacking-up-blood hospital sick, you then decide to get ICU sick, the CDC steps in and authorizes  a five-day course of Paramavir in convenient almost-at-death’s-door IV form.  Then you decide to live but strangely the plan seems to be recovering in a period of weeks and months, not days.

Granted, he had all the classical bad things working against him.  Overweight, asthmatic, high blood pressure, overworked…

The CDC has some information posted that I find to be irresponsible and granted they were aiming it at a less educated group, but medical and scientific organizations need to stop talking down to people – people can and do ask questions and rise to the occasion when they need to figure something out.  Dumbing shit down just dilutes the message and conveys nothing useful.

When soap and water are not available, alcohol-based disposable hand wipes or gel sanitizers may be used.* You can find them in most supermarkets and drugstores. If using gel, rub your hands until the gel is dry. The gel doesn’t need water to work; the alcohol in it kills the germs on your hands. –  CDC (http://www.cdc.gov/H1N1flu/qa.htm)

You are left thinking “Hey, all right, alcohol is good!” and then you read on to where it says “the alcohol in it kills the germs on your hands”.

What?  H1N1 is not a germ.  It is a virus.  So by making that last sentence read the way it does, it puts in doubt whether these folks know what they are talking about.

Yes, influenza viruses do have a lipid coat on them which is susceptible to alcohol.  Some viruses don’t walk around with a lipid coat stolen from the host cell (when they disperse via budding).  Great.  But is the H1N1 something that I can count on to not be atypical?  Should I trust what I’m reading when someone interchangeably uses “germ” and “virus”?

Scientific Blogging has two good links, the first of which makes mention of Benzalkonium Chloride (sometimes referred to as BC or BAC) and is a quaternary ammonium compound.  It will kill the viruses.

Stop for a second… no hand sanitizer is a good substitute for washing your hands.

No, not much funny happened.

What did happen was that there was shock, SHOCK I tell you, that another person actually dared to disagree with the Obamessaiah (“You lie!”).

The news isn’t special enough to even bring up except for one thing… even after all this last summer, somehow the media is surprised when someone dares to do anything other than genuflect or just lie there silently choking on their own vomit if they disagree with the big O.

But here’s where the gravy of the story comes in:

On the House floor where President Obama spoke just a half-day earlier, two words shouted by a Republican congressman reverberated louder than the finer points of the health care debate.

House Democrats seized on House rules Thursday to demand South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson offer a high-profile apology to President Obama for shouting, “You lie,” during the president’s health care address.

Wilson called the White House shortly after Obama’s speech to say he was out of line. The White House said early Thursday that the president accepted the apology.

But that did not put the issue to rest, and House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn, also of South Carolina, asked Wilson to apologize on the House floor in front of his colleagues. The final vote of the day was held open by Democrats to give him an opportunity to do so, but he refused.

Democrats threatened to censure Wilson absent such an apology. So far they have not done it — but even though House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said earlier that a censure was not being considered, her top deputies kept it in the mix.

You get that?  Majority Whip Clyburn didn’t really want Wilson to apologize – that didn’t matter, obviously.  What he wanted was unfettered approval to beat the guy silly in public.  It was pure spite.

Wilson deserves credit for doing a good deed, instead.

Wilson apologized again Thursday morning, though he also says a massive loophole could wind up in the health care bill: no requirement to prove citizenship for health care coverage.

Among three House committees to pass bills for health reform, only one expressly bans federal funding for proving health coverage to illegal immigrants.

“The Congressional Research Service has indicated that indeed the bills that are before Congress would include illegal aliens,” Wilson said. “And I think this is wrong.”

Indeed, the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service study found that the House health care bill does not restrict illegal immigrants from receiving health care coverage.

House Republican Minority Leader John Boehner amplified the complaint that without proof of citizenship, illegal immigrants could be insured.

The Dude passed on a great “You Scare Me” list from some guy named Saul regarding zerObama.

He also passed on a link to Obama’s new regulatory czar,  Cass Sunstein, and his crack-smoker ideas.  This czar stuff has got to go.  Otherwise the next thing you know we’ll have czars in running the country with absolutely no concrete political experience, like our president.

And the wording on the roll says it is easy to use!  Geez, duct tape was already easier by an order of magnitude than Redneck Sex™, how could it get any easier?

Speaking of uncomfortable things… who leads when these two dance?  Is it decided by height, body-fat, rock-paper(vodka)-scissors, or what?

If you do, please, vote in an informed manner. Or if you can’t do that, just don’t bother to show up. Obama is just as facile with a lie as Hil/Bil.

Not to get all hysterical and everything, but next consider that Stratfor made note of the fact that there’s three US carriers in the region not too far from China, one paying a call to port at Hong Kong.

Not saying anything but put it in the background there…

For fun, here is a Maxine comic. I have no idea if it is a real one by the artist or whether it was done by someone else. If it is yours, claim it and we can work out whether I may continue to post it here. I’m posting it because it’s fun, not ’cause I’m saying it is mine or making money off of it. Think of it as advertising for free!

She cracks me up. Caustic. I picture Ann Coulter being much like her someday.
