Update:  May I just point out again that this is your next Supreme Court Justice?  She thinks your freedom of speech rights are flexible.  So, if your blog represents a “cost to society” that someone deems to be too high…

Just sayin’.

In keeping with the theme for today “Sticking up for what you believe”, here’s a lady who asked that her obit read:

Her obituary, printed in Tuesday’s Review-Journal, reads in part, “We believe that Mom would say she was mortified to have taken a large role in the election of Harry Reid to U.S. Congress. Let the record show Charlotte was displeased with his work. Please, in lieu of flowers, vote for another more worthy candidate.”

Charlotte McCourt – I never knew ya, but I sure like ya.  Everyone makes mistakes, good on ya for making that one public.

Everybody Draw Mohammed Day.  The copycats implode. too, somehow having been under the impression that bad guys aren’t really bad and that ideals can be thrown under a bus.

“I just want to be quiet now,” she continued. “I wish I didn’t do this.”

As part of “Inspire,” a 67-page English-language Al Qaeda magazine, Yemeni-American cleric Anwar al-Awlaki — who has been linked to the botched Times Square bombing and cited as inspiration for the Fort Hood massacre and the plot of two New Jersey men to kill U.S. soldiers — targeted the Seattle cartoonist for “assassination,” along with others who have participated in her campaign.

“The large number of participants makes it easier for us because there are more targets to choose from in addition to the difficulty of the government offering all of them special protection,” wrote al-Awlaki, who is an American citizen. “But even then our campaign should not be limited to only those who are active participants.”

Geez, lady.  Get angry.  Get pissed off!  Say “Ok, well screw you, you fanatics!  Peaceful religion, my ass.”

But no, people gotta cave to these assholes.  It’s as if they believed that life was guaranteed to be safe and everyone got three lives and health paks and 1up mushrooms and pet unicorns and… sorry.

It is only because the world lets killers of innocents go on that they get away with all that they do.  This is why I say that the “peaceful” ones are equally guilty because as a culture they are not rising up and stamping this crap out.  Self-determination works if you have the cumulative spine to do it.

Hey, Awlaki… take a flying f*ck at a rolling donut.

Aaaaaand in the “Defies All Belief But Still Sayin’ It” department… zero point energy harvesting.  Problem people can’t seem to get into their head is that energy flows from high to low (entropy)… it randomizes, it diffuses, it settles down and has kids with a wife and mortgage and dog.

Along the way, while it goes from high to low, we tap into it and make it do things for us – work.  Absorption of photons, hydroelectric power, steam engines, nuclear power plants… it’s all about taking something energetic, letting it dissipate into something less energetic, and while it goes from A to B we steal some for our own selfish and nefarious purposes.

So anyway, this writer seems to think like a lot of other folks that somehow you’re going to supercool something and get some of that universal stimulus energy.

Go ahead, read it.  It might even sound logical here and there and actually does have some factual information but the contortions required to stitch it together look like a bad patch job after the tearing of Oprah’s sweatpants when she was bending over to pick up a hoagie.

Don’t get me wrong – I don’t dispute vacuum state energy, and I think it perfectly plausible but it’s not like a wall of water, it’s more like white noise on the tv – it all cancels out over time.

I tend to think that superstrings or the more-or-less-standing-waves on a holographic wavefront models of viewing the universe are closer to the right track.  I’ll tell you this, though… any concept we come up with is just a model.  And they’re never quite exactly right.

Draw Mohammed Day

Everybody Draw Mohammed Day.   I love it.

Some of this stuff was cut out of yesterday’s post and put here to make it more cohesive – like one big ball of sticky phlegm.

This is a piece titled: “Mohammad found in a ham and cheese sandwich by Texas housewife”

Wow.  I’m kind of surprised this didn’t get death threats.

Oh dear.  I remember this but never saw a photo of it until last night.

Posted this graphic I did a LONG time ago.  Worth throwing up again.

I suspect Mohammed’s real secret is the whole cross-dressing thing.  Eddie Izzard may be able to pull that off but some folks ought not go getting gussied up.
