One more example of the arrogance that Obama brought into the administration.

Energy Secretary Chu had this to say:

Speaking on the sidelines of a smart grid conference in Washington, Dr. Chu said he didn’t think average folks had the know-how or will to to change their behavior enough to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions.

“The American public…just like your teenage kids, aren’t acting in a way that they should act,” Dr. Chu said. “The American public has to really understand in their core how important this issue is.” (In that case, the Energy Department has a few renegade teens of its own.)   [More here…]

The WSJ did a disservice by posting an update from Chu’s public relations lackey, when they should let the man’s speech speak for itself.

Whatever people may say, most of the time what you say in an opinionated way IS how you feel and what you think.  Here is what they said:

An update: Energy Department spokesman Dan Leistikow added: “Secretary Chu was not comparing the public to teenagers. He was saying that we need to educate teenagers about ways to save energy. He also recognized the need to educate the broader public about how important clean energy industries are to our competitive position in the global economy. He believes public officials do have an obligation to make their case to the American people on major legislation, and that’s what he’s doing.”

I see very little leeway to go from one to the next.

Profiling is just wrong.  Wrong, I tell you.

Active Terror Cell Planned NY Attack

Feds Unsure if Arrests have Foiled Terror Plot

I suspect the Swedes are behind it but it could be any one of those countries – the Scandanavians are just some of the most screwed up societally.

Case in point:  Lutefisk.

I mean, the prep reads like a demon’s checklist:

The first treatment is to soak the stockfish in cold water for five to six days (with the water changed daily). The saturated stockfish is then soaked in an unchanged solution of cold water and lye for an additional two days. The fish swells during this soaking and its protein content decreases by more than 50 percent, producing its famous jelly-like consistency. When this treatment is finished, the fish (saturated with lye) has a pH value of 11–12, and is therefore caustic. To make the fish edible, a final treatment of yet another four to six days of soaking in cold water (also changed daily) is needed. Eventually, the lutefisk is ready to be cooked.

Gulp.  The lutefisk song, verse #1 goes something like this:

O Lutefisk, O Lutefisk, how fragrant your aroma,
O Lutefisk, O Lutefisk, you put me in a coma.
You smell so strong, you look like glue,
You taste just like an overshoe,
But lutefisk, come Saturday,
I tink I eat you anyway

Hey, why am I talking about Lutefisk?

Oh yes, because not only is profiling wrong at it’s core, but it is just not effective.

NYC Terror

I attached this pic (Schneider, Denver Post/AP) to make a point…  profiling just doesn’t work.  I mean, how can we engage in profiling all those little old ladies, children, invalids, and Swedes when they just don’t net us terrorists like we’d hoped?  You would think they had used some kind of profile to catch this guy but you’d be wrong.  In between searching the Swedes and grannies, someone reported an overdue movie and because one thing led to another, they caught this guy jaywalking on their way to arrest the overdue movie guy.  He was a Dane.

Heard on the radio that a bunch of Hollyw’d stars are getting together to raise awareness of Global Warming.

I suggest that those most concerned about it limit themselves to only hybrid-electric vehicles, hybrid-electric aircraft, no explosions or flames, and only work on-site.  They must show me that they are carbon-neutral before I care what they say.   I may not even then.
