Update: Astute co-worker The Dude passed this on. Wal-Mart to offer iPhones for less than $100. How the hell are people supposed to know if they are cool or not if they can’t distinguish themselves with a gadget-phone?
It leads some of us Luddites to have an iGasm. That is not to be confused with the actual sex-toy product of that name, mind you. I leave it to the motivated reader to google that and hunt it down on their own.

Try as I might, with a stomp to the testicles, an onion shoved up my nose, reading Obama’s books after Ayn Rand… none of those can help me shed even fake tears for Kwame Kilpatrick, the once-gangster mayor of Detroit.
Judge sentences Kilpatrick 18 months to 5 years in prison
An audible gasp erupted in the courtroom as Judge David Groner sentenced former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick to 18 months to five years in state prison.
Deputies rushed up to a row where Kilpatrick friends and relatives are sitting. They escorted one unidentified woman out.
“Your testimony in this court amounted to perjury,” the judge told Kilpatrick. “Most compelling is that you lied to this court, continue to lie, after you pleaded guilty to lying….”
“The initial 120 days incarceration did nothing to rehabilitate you.”
In order to be rehabilitated you have to recognize and believe you did something wrong as well as experience remorse. Why should he feel a bit of remorse if the culture he identifies with and is immersed in supports who and what he is?

This was sent out in the PatriotPost… that’s how border coverage should go.
“Before, I thought, ‘Oh my God, this climate change problem is just dreadful,’ ” said Jillian Leddra, 50, a musician who was shopping in London on a recent lunch hour. “But now I have my doubts, and I’m wondering if it’s been overhyped.”
Racist kkkrakkkers set him up!
This interested me:
Compuware chief Peter Karmanos had given Kilpatrick a six-figure sales job with Covisint in an office just outside Dallas after the ex-mayor’s release from jail in February of last year.
Note to self – never buy anything from Compuware.
It was rainy and cold in Vegas last weekend. It’s almost June! That’s not completely unheard of, but definitely unusual.
Globular Worming certainly explains your cold snap because as expert climatologist Bill Clinton says, there will be pockets of extreme weather even in the midst of the warming.
The whining from that NYT article was delicious! Made me all jiggly inside 🙂
As for Kilpatrick, tough shit. He obviously didn’t learn anything, since he continued down the same path as before. Only thing he learned was to appreciate his wife’s boob job.
You have pictures of the results of the medical procedure? 🙂
From what I saw of the tabloids, it wasn’t pretty 😉
Ok, so we’ll forego the visual inspection then.
Aggie,
I would say that Kwame still has not learned anything.
Unless it’s a botched job, no man needs to learn to appreciate a boob job.
That’s instinctual.
Kilpatrick deserves everything that judge hands down. The problem is that those who voted for him are just like him in that they simply won’t get what needs to be different the next time. They will repeat the same mistakes and elect the same kinds of people, all the while whining that they aren’t getting their fair share of everything.
Same thing for the global warming “awakening.” It’s well and good for people who were previously in the cult to wake up and realize they’ve been had. But it will only happen again with the next snake oil salesman unless people like Jillian ask what made them think it was an emergency in the first place.
Detroit has a long history of not voting with brains but – brace yourself – voting racist. Perhaps “voting culturalist” is the better word choice than “voting racist”. Or “voting gangsta”.
It doesn’t really matter though. No matter what, they seem to time and again vote for people who have the crappiest attitudes and generally are pretty darned crooked.
Not sure how that is an intelligent long-term strategy but maybe Detroit is a sh*thole for other reasons. Could be.
Aw… my racism must have been to subtley coded or something… I said “elect the same kinds of people.” Kinds. Get it? Hmph. Next time I’ll say “Those People.”
Detroit is a hole because of racist policies, politicians and populace. If they’d wise up and vote their pocketbook instead of their skin color and handout preference, they might not lead the nation in all the bad things and be at the end of the line for the good. But hey… that’s what Democrats are good at, right? Making people stay in little racial/cultural groups under the guise of being inclusive. Gotta keep ’em on the plantation, after all, or they’ll have no votes. (More than anything else, that is what I hate about politics. The pigeonholing of people into groups based on ethnicity, etc. )
Admittedly, part of Detroit’s issues stem from the flight of manufacturing from this country as a whole, but not enough of them to take all the blame.
Oh way subtle…. 🙂
Honestly I did think you meant the repeat of the same bad tendencies, but in this case it is amounting to the same thing because of the ridiculous adherence to cultural bias/issues.
Detroit is what the people who live there have made of it. Businesses leaving or not, you choose how to live. I’ve seen dirt-poor people who keep their yards tidy, pay their bills conscientiously, and stay out of jail. It’s a choice to do otherwise, and that extends to many areas of discussion.
I have an iPhone….
STOP JUDGING ME!!!
😀
Hey, I have one too, Aggie. I didn’t ask for one – the hub had a used one he got from a friend and when I lost my phone I got that one. I hate to admit it, but it has come in pretty handy what with the maps and internet and email and compass in the stock and a thing that tells time. (It really does have a compass)
Somebody is a bit sensitive about her iPhone. I mean I won’t name names but Aggie sure does have her knickers in a bunch about it.
🙂
I’m not sensitive about it….just don’t want “the judgment” passed down to me!!
You know what I mean 😉
And which judgment might that be, Aggie m’dear?
Are you referring to the judgment that “All iPhone users are elitist snobs”?
I haven’t made that one about any but the people who bought one immediately after they came out.
Frankly, I think they’re kind of cool but I don’t want a 2-year contract.
Yeah, the contract would suck, but there’s a military discount, so that helps. In my defense it is the only Apple product I own 🙂
I even have Linux and Ubuntu now!! 😀
Less than a 100 bucks? Yah they’re definitely not cool anymore.
The only reason Detroit has problems is because of all you racist kkkrakkkers keepin the Motor City brothers down.
