Congrats Weas, quite an honor! A banner day. Damn, woman! That’s so cool!
Said I’d post a gun tonight, so here she is. A beauty. She was tucked away in one of my dad’s magazines that he’d read and forwarded on to me since he knew I was interested/hunting for a home defense weapon.
When you’re worried that the sixth round just wasn’t enough, there’s…

Wow, an 8 round .357 revolver?? The other stuff is a bit too much extra baggage though.
Oooohhh…I don’t know. I like all the extra stuff. Makes it look like a raygun. Heh.
I have a red dot sight for my .22 plinker, but I’m afraid it doesn’t look all that menacing. Unless you’re a pigeon or something.
As lame as this sounds, I absolutely love the weapon used by Harrison Ford (Lt. Decker) in Blade Runner.
Decker’s Gun
It’s SteamPunk (nearly) but part of the beauty of the movie is that it is very hard to date it. It’s timeless. I think it was Star Wars I that was on the other night, and I noticed popular culture inserted into it in the form of phrases and words that were in use at the time of the movie, and I thought “How tragic, that they essentially condemned the movie to be considered old or dated in such a way.”
Star Wars – yah? Like what? I remember they used varients of “blast” a lot. Han Solo has a “blaster”. Luke just “blasted” the door controls. The helmet has a “blast shield”. I think there were “blast doors” on the ships too.
I must say though, I didn’t care for Blade Runner.
Hey, Lemurking–Deckard’s gun is actually based on a Charter Arms Bulldog .44 revolver that some prop guy went gonzo on.
Harrison Ford gets the cool sidearms. He had that tricked-out Broomhandle Mauser in Star Wars. And then there’s the Indiana Jones .45 revolver. His career has benefitted from the efforts of many underappreciated Hollywood armorers.
Hey, thanks for the tip/trivia, see-dubya.
I just looked at the revolver (wikipedia)… holy crap the props guy sure did go gonzo. Was he on meth at the time? I’m speaking as one totally surprised. The props guy did a nice job.
The old/new weapon style in Star Wars was not lost upon me. Another nice touch.
